Panglao Island and its Hidden Treasure

Panglao Island is not Just known for its beaches, it is also a place full of nature’s beauty and surrounded by History.This Island is located located at the southwest tip of Bohol.



Aside from the Beaches and party, Panglao Island is also a great place to go if you loved History and Old Churches. 

St Augustine Church One of the oldest church in the Island also known as "Panglao Church".This was established as a parish by the Jesuits in 1782.But the church was inaugurated in 1924.




And Since at the time we visit the church was close for renovation we were not able to see the beauty inside.It is know for its ceilings murals were paintings depicting the seven sacraments, the paintings of the patron saint,the Last Supper and the Blessed Trinity.  




At the back of Panglao Church is the stone watchtower stands guard over the edge of the sea or known as the Panglao Watchtower. It is a five-story bell tower,an imposing structure of cut stones and said to be the tallest of its kind in the Philippines.

Next to the Panglao Church the most visited church in the panglao area is the
 Our Lady of Assumption Church, also known as
Dauis Church
.The facade of Dauis Church is Gothic in style with Neoclassical ornamentation.







The church's interior has frescoes on the ceiling,and as said its was painted by Ray Francia in 1916. Once you enter the church you would be amazed by the grand design and its interior.At the foot of the altar has a well, which was believed to have sprung miraculously.Then Suddenly the magnitude 7.2 earthquake inflicted significant damage on the Church.



Beside the historical church of Duis is a shop were you can taste the Premier coffee in pangalo and has a great view of the Tagbilaran harbor.

After visiting the churches of panglao, this Next place that you don't need to miss is one of nature perfect creation.It is a naturally lighted cavern with a deep lagoon and many large stalactites and stalagmites. 
Hinagdanan Cave


Before you enter the cave you need to pay 25 pesos for the entrance and the guide/photographer. One of their guide is not just knowledgeable about the cave but also funny he is the one that would guide you in a perfect spot for you photo.




Inside the cave is an underground lake that is popular for swimming.The cave is made of limestone.This cave is also known as a hideout, and have played an important role in Bohol’s history. As you enter you will able to see the remaining arts and paintings of those people hiding on the cave.


Aside from History and nature tripping in Panglao. They have this unique museum of Shells where you can find the smallest pearl that have been discovered.
Nova Shell Museum

All the shells found inside the museum is owned and collected by Mr. Quirino Hora.Every shell in the museum was collected for more than 30 years.The Nova shell museum is one of the biggest collection of shells in the world.




They have also a shell shop beside the museum which showcase their beautiful creation of shells such as necklace, bracelet, wall decors for collectors and "Pasalubong".


And Before you end your Panglao adventure don't forget to drop by at the Bohol Bee Farm a relaxing place that offers delicious and organic food.The taste organic ice cream with unique flavor and has an amazing taste like Spicy Ginger, Durian, Malungay and Tomato.
